‘Fall secrets’ a compilation

Have you ever experienced in the midst of nature, an intense and heightened emotional response, a deep feeling, a sense of calm or inner peace floating into a sort of spiritual or transcendent state?

The sublime experience was described by Maslow in (1999) as a mix of “wonder, surprise, awe, amazement, reverence, humility and surrender before the experience as before something great”.

Csikszentmihalyi (2014) defined this as a person entering a state of absorption, full attention, and abstraction in a personally fulfilling activity that brings him or her closer to a positive state – for instance, a state of utter joy, a sense of balance and self-sufficiency in life, etc.

It is this sublime experience that may have inspired poets like Wordsworth, and artists like JMW Turner. It is an entity that has been extensively described by Kant and Edmund Burke.

If such an experience is encountered by an artist, a musician, a poet or a writer, the perceived ecstasy of the moment is aesthetically translated and presented for the viewers to experience through their works inspired by sublimity.

It is this very state one experiences in the project, ‘Fall Secrets’, which is the brainchild of artist, Orlando Javier Pelichoti from San Juan, Argentina who invited quotes from artists all over the world and immortalised their words with his typewriter by typing them on fallen leaves of autumn.

Visual artist and photojournalist Orlando Javier Pelichotti who has a Degree in Creativity (National University of Cuyo; and Postgraduate and Diploma in Creativity is teaching secondary, tertiary levels and in the university; and is a business trainer in Argentina and abroad having to his credit more than 210 shows individual and collective since 1993 including many prestigious biennales and Museum shows.

Orlando talks about the project.
“Happy, along with the last sunset of autumn in the Andes Mountains, the last phrases were coming from all continents (twenty two different countries: Italy, Australia, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Brazil, Uruguay, Taiwan, Cuba, Mexico, Switzerland, Portugal, Panama, Ukraine, Senegal, India, Romania, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Panama, Colombia and Portugal), to perpetuate them with my old machine, in the leaves falling from the trees of the Cuyo Region – Argentina (Mendoza, San Luis and my beloved San Juan).
Then appeared phrases, poems, tales and thoughts that navigated in the preacherite, present or in the yearning of the imaginary itself. Looking for dry leaves that were falling into the dew, to prepare and then write, was a slow task and with beautiful learning.
One early morning, inside a hospital, they were the company of a patient, also read them while waiting to swab, in the mornings before work, and even read them in the air on some radios…
This project that was born to fly, like the leaves in the autumn, will be part of the IV Biennale of the South, in the beloved Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela 2020-2021, in the fall of 2021.
Happy because there are autumn secrets, which are already shared…”
