I began my journey of painting for the sheer joy of it, practicing both Medicine and Art for over a decade until I decided to pursue art full-time as a freelance artist.

Art to me is a form of meditation and creating a piece of art gives me the same peace, joy and satisfaction. Meditation requires introspection, focus and discipline and so does creating an artwork. My recent geometric abstracts take the viewer into a meditative zone, and through these I am developing a unique language to communicate and share the peace that comes to me through art.

I play with the transparency and opacity of different colours, on the canvas and palette, obtaining outcomes which bear an element of surprise for me.

Coming from a background of medicine, I was inclined towards analysis, research learning and critical thinking. So I tried creating balance and harmony of colours by regulating their value (as on grey scale) and saturation in order to create an impression of juxtaposition and gradation of complementary colours on the basis of visual appeal.

Though in my earlier years, I tried exploring representational painting, I found freedom in non objective use of geometry and colours where I was not under constraint of replicating any pre existing form.

I use play of lines and colour to navigate the eye of the viewer and bring in brilliance or softness wherever required in the composition, which consists mainly of flat tinted sections.

I found this process of creating a painting by mere geometry and colour articulation, contemplative and my journey of perfecting the outlines meditative.

Though colour perception/ colour hearing are to a certain extent abstract and have their share of subjectivity based upon individual colouristic sensitivity, conditioning and associative element, I found this language evoking a sense of synaesthesia, perceiving beyond what is evident and being taken into a journey of self discovery, awakening of the soul and divine knowledge. For those not seeking semantic credentialling, I wish to bring some peace through optics and harmony of colours.

These days I am incorporating elements of calligraphy, line drawings, minimalism in both in lines and colours and enriching my knowledge of spiritualism in art.
